When the desert flowers

Shortly after the first spring rains (usually at the end of August), the Namaqualand semi-desert bursts into bloom. For a few weeks, the usually dry and barren landscape bursts into an amazing display of colour. Parts of the park is possible to visit as a day-visitor, but for a truly special experience make a plan to hike for a few days and get into remote areas where few people ever go.
