Ribola Art Route is a community initiative centered around a number of established and up-and-coming artists in the Limpopo province. Here, myths and legends still influence daily life and many of the artists take their inspiration from this. There are many skilled wood carvers, some of whom have been tutored by the late Jackson Hlungwani (one of South Africa's best known and critically acclaimed artists). There are also many artists working with clay, either making pots or creating imaginative sculptures like the ones by Noria Mabasa (another of South Africa's much-loved artists).
But there are alos plenty of other creative people, making anything from music (and instruments) to art from scrap. A day on the Ribola Art Route will be a memory for life. It is personal and interactive. You can make your own clay pot or fabric print, or just look and listen and, of course, buy beautiful pieces of art at a very reasonable price!
We can help you organise the perfect day exploring Ribola together with a local guide. Whether you want to try your artistic abilities, meet interesting people and learn more about their art and inspiration, or perhaps see the works of some more established artists, we've got it covered. Let us know what your interests are, ad we'll suggest an itinerary tailored to your wishes.
